CPR di Brindisi-Restinco

Migrant centre Former government property 📍 Strada Provinciale n. 43, Contrada Restinco, Brindisi (BR), Puglia, Italy Capacity: 48 Converted: 2024

Was: A dedicated, highly secured sector within the long-standing Ministry of Interior immigration complex at Restinco, operating adjacent to the open CPA/CARA reception centre.

CPR di Brindisi-Restinco (Centro di Permanenza per i Rimpatri) is a pre-removal immigration detention centre located in Contrada Restinco, just outside Brindisi in Italy's Apulia region.

Context & Operations: While located on the same state-owned grounds as the open CPA/CARA reception centre, the CPR serves a vastly different function. It operates as a highly secured, closed detention facility used to hold undocumented migrants or those whose asylum claims have been rejected, pending their imminent forced deportation from Italy. Individuals held here are subjected to administrative detention rather than criminal incarceration.

Funding & Contractors: The detention facility is entirely funded by the Italian Ministry of Interior. Daily management, including catering, maintenance, and on-site medical assistance, is outsourced to private entities via multi-year public tenders. Operations are currently managed by the Consorzio HERA group, which regularly oversees both the open and closed sections of the Restinco complex.

What we asked: Please provide the most recent inspection reports and medical intervention statistics regarding individuals held within the 48-bed CPR unit over the 2025–2026 operational period.

Under the current 2024–2027 management convention awarded to Consorzio HERA, what specific financial allocations and contractual obligations are mandated for the provision of on-site psychiatric care and linguistic mediation within the closed CPR sector?

How many individuals were successfully repatriated directly from the CPR di Brindisi-Restinco during the last calendar year, and what were the total logistical costs incurred by the Prefettura for executing those deportations?
